DualCom GPRS
DualCom GPRS is a totally integrated dual-signalling device which uses both radio and telephone paths to transmit intruder alarm signals. In the event of accidental or deliberate damage to either path, DualCom GPRS will ensure its working path transmits subsequent signals should they occur.
The CS2000’s radio path utilises the GPRS network as used by the majority of countries. DualCom GPRS transmits via a data (rather than the more common voice) network thus ensuring a lower-traffic route is used for these all important alarm transmissions.
In the UK it is preferable to use the lower cost Vodafone Data Network (VDN) network. However, for areas with a low VDN signal strength e.g. the Highlands and other remote areas, the option of DualCom GMS should be considered.
Overseas countries, where VDN is not an option, can use the DualCom GPRS which is compatible with any telephone and mobile phone network. For more information, contact your local distributor listed in the Export section of this site.
Why use DualCom GPRS?
DualCom GPRS always reports - DualCom is able to signal alarm events after a line cut giving you a true picture of events i.e. accidental or deliberate signal. In the event of a signal path failure, such as an intruder cutting the telephone line, DualCom GPRS sends this and any subsequent alarm signals on its unaffected path.
Personal Attack - If the telephone line is cut no subsequent Personal Attack signals can get through. DualCom GPRS will always transmit any subsequent alarms.
Cheap at half the price! - DualCom GPRS gives your client two signalling paths for the price of one.
Telephone Friendly - DualCom GPRS can share a telephone, fax or modem line. Unlike other signalling systems, it can be used on any cable telephone network (such as Cable & Wireless). DualCom GPRS uses the telephone line as the primary signalling path to avoid Cellular call charges.
Immediate Connection - DualCom GPRS provides protection from Day 1 of the installation.
Can I install DualCom GPRS anywhere?
DualCom GPRS will connect to any telephone network and can share an existing telephone line with existing voice, fax or modem usage.
To ensure the radio path operates over a strong signal, we recommend some basic checks:
SIGNAL STRENGTH – always check there is sufficient signal strength at the location prior to installation. To do this, simply go to the selected area of installation and look at the signal strength bars on your mobile phone. NOTE: your mobile phone must be connected to the same GPRS network as you are using for your DualCom device.
POSTCODE CHECK – contact Languard and request a postcode signal strength check. We will then inform you of the anticipated strength for that location.
